The recently finished North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Agricultural Sciences Center is a first-of-its-kind center serving one of the leading industries in North Carolina. Inside you can find 85,000 square feet of the building is made of up laboratory space with Kewaunee products.
Funded by the Connect NC Bond, The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Agricultural Sciences Center (ASC) is 225,000 square feet split up into laboratory space and administration space.
With agriculture a leading industry in North Carolina, the ASC was made to serve North Carolina’s farmers. ASC testing services are offered at either low or no cost to farmers, highlighting the industry’s importance in the state.
Funded by the Connect NC bond, 85,000 square feet of the building is made of up laboratory space. The first facility of its kind in the nation, the ASC offers flexible lab space to facilitate expansion into new or expanded program areas such as swine testing, farmer forage, hemp, or alternative fuels/biodiesel.
These expanded state of the set training facilities provides faster, cost-efficient training and certification to maintain and grow agriculture in North Carolina.
Kewaunee adaptable systems, casework, and fume hoods can be found in labs across the building, from Avian study rooms to pest control labs. The building is expected to support agriculture and farming in North Carolina for the next 50 years.
One of the most unique features of this newly completed center is the Necropsy Suite. This set of rooms is used to study animals that have died and determine the cause of death. Farmers are able to use information discovered by researchers to treat any other animals in their facility that may have the same disease, mitigating loss. This necropsy suite is made up of Kewaunee stainless steel casework and special examination tables capable of holding large farm animals. In addition to the stainless steel casework used for veterinary purposes, other labs make use of Kewaunee Kemresin Epoxy Resin worktops. These durable worktops are chemical and scratch resistant.
