Kewaunee’s products often support innovators on the frontline of scientific discovery, but we recently had the opportunity to supply heroes on an entirely different front – Chicago’s Fire Department.

Chicago’s new Engine Company 115 Fire Station will be the second largest station in the city, with space for a Chicago Fire Department District Office, an Office of Emergency Management and Communication radio communication tower, and three stationed ambulances.

This state-of-the-art, 27,000 square foot fire station will be a home away from home for approximately 20 firefighters/EMTs and 8 police officers.

While completing their long and often taxing shifts, these first responders will have access to a full-service kitchen filled with custom Kewaunee casework. We were thrilled to contribute to the design of this impressive kitchen and supplied all of Station 115’s stainless steel sinks and worktops. Each worktop was custom fabricated with a marine edge and integral backsplash.

The casework for this project is 18 gauge, type 304 stainless steel with a number 4 finish, and we added a custom-designed, integrally welded hasp lock to all cabinets.

The kitchen is the heart of a fire station, and we are both honored and proud to be a part of creating this important space where the firefighters of Engine Company 115 will one day gather to catch up and refuel after completing some of their many lifesaving calls.
