Today, we’re featuring Laurus Labs’ state-of-the-art facility, a groundbreaking project that integrates cutting-edge technologies and sets a new standard for research environments.

Project Overview

This state-of-the-art, amazing space integrates advanced technologies like biocatalysts, flow chemistry, and high-potent chemistry, to develop groundbreaking pharmaceutical solutions. The facility significantly enhances Laurus Labs’ ability to support early-stage process development, expanding their project funnel and meeting the growing needs of global partners.

This facility supports advanced research and development and integrates seamlessly with Laurus Labs’ CDMO business, enabling faster drug development and scalable production.

Kewaunee’s Role in Developing this Greenfield Laboratory Project

Kewaunee’s Asia division designed, built, and commissioned this 210,000 sq. ft. laboratory space on a full turnkey basis. The team collaborated on conceptual design to meet research and development needs, provided tailored lab planning solutions to optimize space and workflow efficiency, and engineered custom lab furniture and advanced safety systems.

Innovative Solutions

At the heart of this project is a robust, innovative laboratory infrastructure. The facility features modern synthesis chemistry labs, advanced containment systems, and extensive analytical capabilities. With over 159 fume hoods, 12 synthesis labs, and dedicated Class 3 potent chemistry labs, this amazing space sets the stage for immense discovery and collaboration.

Advanced VAV HVAC systems, fire suppression, and monitoring technologies ensure a secure environment within this energy-efficient and environmentally conscious design.

Focus on Safety and Sustainability

Two key focus areas of this project were safety and sustainability. The innovative facility received IGBC certification, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible building practices. The project also achieved 3.5 million safe man-hours with zero accidents during construction, highlighting the emphasis on safety.
