Welcome back to Kewaunee’s Amazing Spaces competition blog series! We’re excited to continue showcasing some of the most innovative and inspiring scientific spaces around the world.

Today, we’re featuring Science Square Atlanta. This extraordinary complex provides researchers with state-of-the-art lab spaces, on-site write-up areas, and a vibrant environment to live and work.

Project Overview

Located next to Georgia Tech and in the heart of Atlanta’s research district, this space is designed to attract and nurture the best and brightest minds.

The Nycom team supported the project group in designing and delivering cutting-edge laboratory casework and fume hoods. The project centered on the campus’s “Graduator” suites, with a focus on tenant-driven flexibility and customization.

Project Goals

The primary goals for this project included:

  • Creating a Dynamic Research Environment: Providing state-of-the-art lab spaces that can be easily reconfigured to meet the diverse needs of various tenants.
  • Enhancing Tenant Experience: Creating a holistic environment where researchers can thrive both professionally and personally.
  • Attracting Top Talent: Leveraging the prime location next to Georgia Tech and in the heart of Atlanta’s research district to recruit exceptional talent.

Special Considerations

Each lab in Science Square Atlanta offers stunning views of the iconic Atlanta skyline, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the labs and creating an inspiring environment for researchers.

The Nycom team worked closely with the project group to ensure that the design and delivery of the lab spaces met the highest standards of quality and functionality. For instance, the use of Kewaunee Enterprise workstations with mobile cabinets allowed for easy reconfiguration by tenants, while Kewaunee Venturi fume hoods ensured the safe containment of chemical lab processes.
